Inanna (detail 1)
In 1989 I read the wonderful book "Descent to the Goddess" written by Sylvia Brunton Pereira. It dealt with a Jungian interpretation of the Sumerian myth of inanna's (Ishtar in the Akkadian mythology) descent to the underworld and her confrontation of Eresgikal (Queen of the Underworld in the Akkadian myths). The book examined the unique presence of these "archetyps" in the subconscious of (mostly successful professional) women.
