This particular painting emphasizes the beginnings of the process of transformation: the feet seem to start gaining movement again . The blackness of the sea-tomb has been absorbed by the struggling new body. A vague but definitely new face seems to appear. The skeleton becomes alive and grows new-yet still black- members. The movements appear almost robotic, but the surrounding colors promise a new beginning: this time on the blooming surface of the earth.
